Therese Lisbon

Therese is seventeen, she is the oldest one of the Lisbon girls. The boys are describing her having a heavier face and the cheeks and eyes of a cow. Right in the beginning the reader gets the information, that she later commits suicide with sleeping pills. When Cecilia has her first suicide attempt, Therese is on a science convention in Pittsburgh and later when she has to observe Cecilia she is reading science books, so you can say she is very interested in science and maybe some kind of intelligent. She acts a little bit reserved towards the boys, because she keeps distance to them while greeting. During the first chapter Therese is often hanging around with Mary, for example they play dominoes at the party. She seems to have a closer bond to her than to the other girls.
